All Around Me
Well first off, I wouldn't have a support band, I would have the band do a short acoustic set. I saw an Italian band do this a few years back, and it started the evening off perfectly.
The acoustics I started off with a Flyleaf classic
Fully Alive. I Love the acoustic version of this, and I feel it would open the night well. Shortly followed by
Believe in Dreams and
Supernatural.. I think both songs are incredibly beautiful and underated, and to see them live and acoustic would be awesome. The acoustic set would be closed with another classic
Cassie. Again I think the acoustic version would work well.
The "metal" set will be opened by
Okay/Tina. I think it has a lovely opening and turns into to a much heavier song, that will allow the audience to change between the acoustics and the metal nicely.
Breathe Today continues the heavier theme with its instantly identifiably beginning, followed by
Beautiful Bride, as from the live videos I've seen, it has been received well and it's quite a rocker!
The next song I would want to hear is
There For You/Hungry to slow the set down.. but also I love the meaning behind this song. The addition of Hungry (On My Knees) I loved.. as I love that song, and I feel it works really well with There For You. Next I chose a song I haven't yet heard, but I like the title a lot, it's
Set Apart This Dream.
The next two songs compliment each other so well,
Sorrow and
You Are My Joy/From The Inside Out. Sorrow has always been one of my favourites of the debut album, and I think it is such a powerful, strong song, and I have memories connected to this song. I really hope the band keep You Are My Joy on their setlist for a while, because I really wish to see it live. The song has been a favourite of mine for a while, before Flyleaf added it to their set, and I think they do it so well.
I felt I HAD to put
Ocean Waves in, as I always seem to claim it was my "second favourite". It's a simple yet urgent and effective track, and I would love to personally see it live.
I included
Have We Lost and
Again, another two new tracks, although most fans have already heard them for quite some time. Both have grown on me, and I can't wait to hear the studio versions of them, particularly Again.
So I Thought just needed to be in my setlist. I especially love the imagery of the lyrics,
On my knees
Dim lighted room, Thoughts free flow try to consume myself in this, I'm not faithless, Just paranoid... and it is another song that I have fond memories of. Walking along with one of my best friends, assigning signs and movements for every word. It is a beautiful song, and a perfect one to wind down the set, ready for the final song...
Which could be none other than
All Around Me. For those of you who knew me before this site.. you may know my story, you may know why All Around Me is such an important song to me. If you don't, maybe I'll tell you one day. All I can really say is that this song renewed my Faith and Trust in God. This song changed my life, from potentially the last moments of my old life, it brought me to my new life. When I saw Flyleaf play 19/01/08 Lacey and the band kindly dedicated the song to me, as they had read a letter I gave them, explaining my story and the songs importance. I don't think any song, ever, will top this song. It is musically and lyrically genius, and through this song, God saved me.
